After a successful career in international professional sport, Tawera returned to his ancestral lands with intentions of encouraging economic development at the marae, hapuu and Iwi levels. Although a director and chair person on the Te Riu o Waikato Limited board, Tawera volunteers 100% of his time to this company as his commitment to the vision of his ancestors and the goals of the Te Riu o Waikato cluster.

Tawera brings strong national and international business networks to Te Riu o Waikato Ltd, working tirelessly to realise the future goals and development of our marae, its people and the tribal estate as a whole.

Josephine Aotea Maipi is also a volunteer on the Te Riu o Waikato Ltd board of directors, working long and hard to build capacity at the Marae level for the benefit of its people. She is committed and persistent in her desire to see the local Maaori economy grow strong and vibrant.
Aotea brings experience in the health industry working closely with Te Riu o Waikato Marae cluster to improve health outcomes for its people. She also brings strong cultural networks to Te Riu o Waikato Limited as both a director and representative for her Marae, Waahi Paa.
